Four injured in Tara Air aircraft crash airlifted to Nepalgunj

SIMIKOT, Nov 29: Four persons injured in the Tara Air aircraft crash in Simikot on Tuesday morning were airlifted to Nepalgunj for further treatment, said the District Administration Office. Others injured are receiving treatment at a local health institution.

The Twin Otter 9N-ABM aircraft en-route to Surkhet overshot the runway after one of its tyres punctured during takeoff, injuring pilot Basanta Lama, co-pilot Anup Gurung, airhostess Shreya Shrestha, and a passenger Assistant Sub-inspector Yam Prasad Dahal.
Altogether 16 passengers including three crew members and 13 police personnel were onboard the plane when the accident occurred. The police personnel, who were assigned to provide security for the November 26 elections, were returning after accomplishing their duty.
