Gaurishankar Conservation Area declared no-fly zone

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Helicopter flights have been prohibited in the area above Gaurishankar Conservation Area. The decision has been made by the Home Ministry stating that it would not be appropriate to open all parts of the conservation to the general public.

Certain parts of the conservation area have been closed with entrance permitted through correspondence with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and related District Administration Office as well as the Conservation Area Office. According to the rule, certain areas including Beding Village, Naa Village, and Chorolpa of Gaurishankar can be taken flights to after obtaining permissions from the given offices. All other areas of the conservation area have been prohibited to fly over.

Anyone found to be flying over the prohibited area without permission will be prosecuted under the Civil Aviation Authority Act 2053 and Manual 2058 as well as other applicable laws.
