Goma Air crashes at Lukla Airport, captain dies

SOLUKHUMBU, May 27: Mr. Paras Kumar Rai, the Captain of the flight crew of the Goma Air aircraft with call sign 9 N – AKY, who was critically injured after the airplane crashed nearly 20 metres below the runway while landing at the Lukla Airport today, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Pasang Lhamu Nikel Niki Hospital at Lukla.
The plane crashed due to bad weather, it is stated. Co-pilot Srijan Manandhar who was seriously injured in the crash is being treated at the same hospital.
The helicopter of the Dynasty Air carrying airhostess Pragya Maharjan, who was also seriously injured in the crash, to Kathmandu for treatment had to make an emergency landing at Chhuplung as the weather became bad again, police said. It is said Maharjan can speak.
