Gosainkunda Rural Municipality allocates 6 million for tourism promotion

KATHMANDU, Jun 29: Gosainkunda Rural Municipality has allocated Rs. 6 million for tourism promotion to fulfil its goal to attract 30,000 visitors in the next fiscal year. Municipality Chief, Kaisang Nurpu Tamang, said that the municipality has decided to invest heavily in tourism infrastructure as tourism is a major source of income in the region.
The plans for developing the tourism infrastructure includes developing new trekking routes. Chief Tamang said that a recent village council meeting has endorsed developing Dhunche Gyachet, Pangle Kharka, Voksar Gang, Gramsa and Saraswoti Kunda trekking routes that will connect Gosainkunda.
The municipality also giving priority to ensuring tourist safety on the trekking trails, installing information boards along the trekking trails as well as bringing in technology to track visitors by GPS (Global Positioning System).
Providing training to tourist guides and home stay operators has also been planned to promote tourism in the region. The municipality will make a documentary of Gosainkunda to publicise it as a tourist destination. An additional 3 million rupees has been set aside to prepare a detailed project report to construct a cable car fro mDhunche to Gosainkunda.
