Government planning to focus tourism promotion in neighboring countries

KATHMANDU, Aug 06: The government is planning to give priority to neighboring countries India and China to promote tourism. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation will be conducting a promotional campaign focused on the tourism markets of the two neighboring countries.
The Chief of the Policy and Planning Department of the ministry, Nita Pokharel, said that the ministry is allocating 20% of the entire budget for market promotion to these two countries. China is the largest tourism market in the world, and has added potential while also being a neighboring country.
28% of the tourists visiting Nepal in 2017 were from these two countries, which was 264 thousand tourists from a total of 940 thousand visitors.
