Govt to promoted rural tourism and homestay

KATHMANDU, May 25: The government will promote rural tourism and homestay. It is to be promoted by linking tourism with all kinds of economic activities as a dynamic dimension of the economy.

This was stated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari while unveiling the policy and program for the fiscal year 2022/23 AD at a joint sitting of the federal parliament on Tuesday. She said that by diversifying the tourist sites and goods, emphasis will be laid on increasing employment in the tourism sector, earning foreign exchange and promoting local products.

Special programs will be implemented to attract domestic and foreign investment in the promotion of integrated tourism infrastructure and high value tourism development.

As per the policy, tangible and intangible cultural heritage will be protected and promoted and cultural tourism will be promoted. In addition, tourist attraction will be enhanced by establishing a large museum of Nepal's history, art, culture and original features.

Priority will be given to upgrade the Great Himalayan Trail of Taplejung-Darchula.
