Halesi Mahadev holds significance for many religious sites in the Khotang district. It is situated about 222 kilometers from Kathmandu. It takes around 8-9 hours to reach Halesi Mahadev as we pass via the narrow route.
The temple is situated in a stunning cave, at the peak of a small hill. There are also many other tiny caves lying there too. It's dark inside the cave and bats can be seen flying around the cave.
The Halesi Mahadev temple has been reopened for the public after covid-19 lockdown. Now the public can visit the temple with health safety measure. As per the regulation, the mask is mandatory to all devotees where they need to maintain physical distance.
Devotees from various parts of the country and neighboring countries from India, Bhutan and China among others visit this shrine in huge number in normal years. They visit this shrine to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Parvati. Ram Navami, Shiva Ratri, Haribodhini Ekadashi, Buddha Jayanti and some other occasions are special in this temple.
