HAN and NTB start implementation of sustainable tourism project

KATHMANDU, Sep 12: Implementation of Sustainable Tourism Project has started for the revival of livelihood of Nepal Tourism Board and United Nations Development Program. The program started on Sunday in front of the Tribhuvan International Airport entrance.

The program has been started in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation as per the agreement reached between the Hotel Association of Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board for the implementation of the program targeted at the workers who have lost their jobs in the hotel industry. Hotel Association Nepal’s First Vice President Binayak Shah inaugurated the program.

Speaking on the occasion, First Vice President Shah lauded the program and said that it would provide some relief to the affected workers and would also help the Kathmandu Metropolitan City by cleaning and greening tourist sites, monasteries and roads in the Kathmandu Valley. He also informed that the program has 5,000 labor days and it is planned that one worker can work for a maximum of 40 days.

Speaking on the occasion, Ram Rai, a ward member of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward 9, expressed confidence that the ward would extend all possible support. Senior Manager of Nepal Tourism Board Sunil Sharma, General Secretary of HAN Sajan Shakya and Vanshi Bhattarai representative of the trade union, said that such programs would help in providing relief to people.
