HAN, NTB, REBAN and CAN jointly launch cookbook of Nepali traditional dishes

KATHMANDU, May 07: The Hotels Association of Nepal (HAN) has launched its long-anticipated cookbook of 30 dishes of Nepali traditional dishes on Monday. The recipes were the result of a joint effort of Nepal Tourism Board, Hotel Associations of Nepal, Chef Association of Nepal, and Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal and were unveiled under the 'Experience Nepal: Cuisine & Culture' program of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

HAN had selected 30 traditional Nepali dishes from 200 different choices to promote Nepali cuisine worldwide as part of the Globalizing Nepal Heritage Cuisine campaign. The selected dishes have also been approved from the Department of Food and Technology and Quality Control.

The cookbook and the video are expected to benefit restaurants serving Nepali cuisine both in Nepal and foreign countries. Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, said that the dishes being launched in the program must first be popular within the country itself, and must be integrated by eateries of Nepal before they can be sufficiently promoted internationally.

The campaign is being carried out jointly by Nepal Tourism Board, Hotel Association Nepal, Chef Association of Nepal, and Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal.
