Himalayan Rescue Association appoints 9 doctors

KATHMANDU, April 13: Himalayan Rescue Association has appointed 9 doctors to provide better service to mountaineers.

The association has appointed 2 Nepali and 7 foreign medical workers to provide better service to mountaineers, both domestic and foreign, who will be visiting the Himalayan region this spring. 3 of the doctors have been appointed to the Everest Base Camp, 3 to Feriche, Solukhumbu, and 3 to Manang Gaun, Manang.

Executive Director of the Himalayan Rescue Association, Prakash Adhikari, said that the doctors have been appointed to provide primary health care to mountaineers. As the cases of altitude sickness are quite common in regions above 3,000 meters, the service is essential in the Himalayan region.
