KATHMANDU, Aug 31: The menu rates of hotels in the Manaslu trekking route have been standardized by efforts from the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP). Hotels from Jagat, Sirdibas to Samagaun and Chekampar will now have a uniform menu rate after increasing complaints about the unreasonable rates set by hotels on the trekking trail.
MCAP Chief Narendra Lama said that food and room rates have been determined. A Joint Tourism Organization Sub-Committee has also been formed to organize the hotel and tourist services in the region. A meeting of tourist entrepreneurs in the region approved the menu rates and formed the sub-committee. The meeting also decided to put in place a coupon system for guides and porters accompanying the tourists. Under the new system, meals for guides and porters have been set at Rs. 200. The uniform menu rate has set a uniform price for 20 food dishes and will be applicable in hotels in 34 different places from Sirdibas to Chekampar.
