Indian tourists flocking to Nepal to escape summer heat

KATHMANDU, Jun 18: Due to extreme summer, Indian tourists are preferring Nepal as their choice for vacation. According to Binayak Shah, the General Secretary of Hotel Association Of Nepal (HAN), most Indian schools are closed during summer and Indians visit Nepal to spend their vacation as they can visit the religious places and skip the summer heat at the same time.  This season is mostly the season of Indian tourists and most of the hotels are crowded by Indian tourists.

The Indian tourists mostly prefer places like Pokhara, Sauraha, Mustang and Kathmandu. Since a few years, the number of Indian tourists in Sauraha district is increasing. According to the Chairman of Regional Hotel Association, Chitwan, more than 40% of tourists in Sauraha are from India. Despite being off season, the number of Indian tourists is increasing in Sauraha.

Likewise, the numbers of Indian tourists are also increasing in Chandragiri. Bikram Rana, Marketing Manager of Chandragiri Hills Limited said that in this season, there is increase in Indian tourists to worship Bhaleshwor Temple and to enjoy the cool weather. Indian tourists visit Chandragiri on daily basis.

In the precious month, the visit of Indian Prime Minister to Janakpur and Muktinath has brought good impact in the tourism sector of those places.
