KATHMANDU, June 6: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has formed a 5 member investigation committee to examine the fake insurance claims in the trekking and mountaineering sectors.
The team is headed by Joint Secretary at MoCTCA Ghanashyam Acharya. Other members of the commission includes DG. Tourism Department, Manoj Neupane, Shuvas Jha, Prakash Sharma Dhakal.
The examine committee was formed amid rising complaints related to fake insurance claims in the name of trekkers and mountaineers suffering from different health issues. MoCTCA officials suspect that such fake insurance claims were being made by showing fake documents in conjunction with travel and trekking firms, helicopter operators and hospitals.
The examine committee will be responsible to investigate this trend, identify those involved in the process, recommend actions against the guilty and suggest effective measures to control such incidences within one month.
