KATHMANDU, Mar 15: The hiking route of Tinjire-Milke-Jaljale where 25 species of rhododendron blossom, enlisted by Nepal Tourism Board in the top five tourist destinations, has been affected by the construction of roadways.
The roadways constructed connecting Tehrathum’s Basantapur to Sankhuwasabha’s Gufabazar and Taplejung’s Dobhan has degraded the scenic quality of the top tourism destination. This has created problem for the tourists who come there through hiking route.
The officials were originally planning to promote this trekking route for rhododendron conservation but now the road has effectively blocked the hiking route which might effect the tourism promotion, according to Mr Prakash Shrestha, member of Tourism Development and Promotion Committee.
