Kathmandu names Trishna Shakya as next “Kumari”

KATHMANDU, Sep 26: Nepal’s Capital Kathmandu will be bidding farewell to Matina Shakya, the sitting Kumari, the living goddess and will be chairing Trishna Shakya as next heir.

Kathmandu is set to change the Living goddess “Kumari” this week as the sitting Kumari turned 12 years and time for her period is arriving near.

The main priest of the Taleju Temple announced the name of next Kumari as Trishna Shakya who now is 3 years old amid a press meet organized in Basantapur Durbar Square, a world heritage site.

Matina will be replaced on the 8thday of Dashain known as “Maha Astami”. She is the first Kumari of Kathmandu after Nepal was announced a Republic Nation.

Matina became Kumari when she was 3 years old and will be bided farewell with state honor.
