Krishna Janmashtami is being observed all over the country.  This day is marked as the birthday of Lord Krishna, who is the pioneer of Gyan Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga. On this day, the devotees worship in the temple of Lord Krishna, give discourses, chant hymns, and stay awake all night. Born as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu to protect all human beings from injustice, oppression, and demonic tendencies, Lord Krishna has inspired the human community to do good deeds in favor of lifelong truth. It is believed that Krishna — biological son of Devaki and Vasudeva, raised by Yashoda and Nanda Baba — killed the ruthless King Kansa, who was his maternal uncle. According to the Hindu belief, by doing so Krishna saved the people of Mathura.

On this day, a big fair used to be organized in Mangalbazar of Patan every year. However, due to the increasing cases of coronavirus, the fair will not be held this year.
