Lakeside, Pokhara declared No Vehicle Zone on weekends

POKHARA, Mar 25: Due to increasing road traffic, the Lakeside area of Pokhara has been declared as “No Vehicle Zone”.  As the tourists visiting lakeside complained about the difficulties faced while walking around the Lakeside,  vehicles have been prohibited in the area for two days a week (Friday and Saturday).

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan Man Bahadur G.C. said that it was not a big thing to declare no vehicle zone in Lakeside. "The tourists coming here should not have a problem and we all should give our best to create a nice atmosphere while coming here," he said. Mayor G.C. also requested to organize parking in the free lands in Lakeside. He is also planning to prepare for sewage management for the protection of the Fewa Lake.

Similarly, parliament member Rajiv Pahari told that the responsibility to create an atmosphere of entertainment and quiet environment for internal and external tourists who came to Lakeside should be taken by the local entrepreneurs. He urged to implement the new rule effectively with the 'No Vehicle Zone' announcement.

“The no-vehicle zone will be enforced on Fridays and Saturdays from 5am to 11 pm, between Hallanchowk and Barahi Ghat area”, said Chief of Pokhara Metropolitan Ward No. 6, Jagat Pahari. He said that the local entrepreneurs will be able to entertain and organize awareness programs on the road.
