Lakeside Pokhara to be no-vehicle zone starting March 23

POKHARA, Mar 16: Lakeside, Pokhara is to start the enforcement of a no-vehicle zone as early as March 23. President of the Community Service Center Baidam, Bhim Parajuli, said that the no-vehicle zone will be enforced only on Fridays and Saturdays for now.

The no-vehicle zone will be enforced on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 am to 11 pm, between Hallanchowk and Barahi Ghat area in the first phase. A committee has been formed under the Chief of Ward 6 of Pokhara Metropolitan, Jagat Bahadur Pahari, to make this project a success. The committee has members from different tourism organizations including the Pokhara Tourism Council, Community Service Center Baidam, REBAN Pokhara, TAAN, Western Hotel Association, Nepal Tourism Board Regional Office, etc.

The decision was announced in a gathering of the Community Service Center Baidam. Ward Chief Jagat Bahadur Pahari said that to make the campaign a success, support is needed from all sectors. President of Pokhara Tourism Council, Kedarnath Sharma said that it is necessary to make the no-vehicle zone into a brand of Pokhara.
