Maghe observed in Tudikhel (Photo feature)

KATHMANDU: Maghe  Sankranti is being observed throughout the country Monday.  On the day, Hindu people take holy dips into rivers and ponds, worship at various temples and relish delicacies like ghee, yam, khichadi and sweets like chaku and sweets made of sesame and molasses.

Magar community celebrated the day as Maghe Sankranti where as Tharu community celebrated it as Maghi. People living in the valley also celebrated the festival in their own way. Magar people gathered at Bhrikuti Mandap whereas Tharu people were seen in Tudikhel to rejoice their festivals.

Attired in traditional Tharu and Magar dress, the celebrants performed cultural dance making a spectacular view in the open ground of Kathmandu Valley.
