Main Organizing Committee formed to observe Yoga Day

KATHMANDU, June 15 : A Yoga Day Main Organizing Committee, comprising 111 members, has been formed to observe the International Yoga Day on June 21.
The Committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopal Man Shrestha was formed in the meeting held at the Ministry of Education here on Wednesday where the yoga related organizations and individuals were in attendance.
The Committee arranges the celebration of the Day in the country that was first proposed by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations general assembly in 2014 and later endorsed by the global governing body to celebrate July 21 as the International Yoga Day.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers on June 8, 2016 decided to observe annually the International Yoga Day in Nepal on July 21.
DPM Shrestha, on the occasion, underscored the need to promote yoga education in all the schools. The Ministry of Home Affairs as well as Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation will also be support the cause, it was shared.
