Marsyangdi Village Municipality starting homestay facilities

BESISAHAR, Mar 19: Marsyangdi Village Municipality is preparing to begin homestay facilities in 13 of its villages. The village municipality is situated to the north of Lamjung. Village Municipality President Arjun Gurung said that the village municipality is starting homestay facilities in 13 villages from 8 different wards.
The service has already started in Ghanpokhari, Siurung, Dhagain, Chhapa, Mipra, and Bhusme where around 80 houses are offering homestay facilities to tourists. “The houses in these villages are suitable for providing homestay facilities. We have planned to conserve the older houses while promoting the newer ones,” said President Gurung. Vice-President Hom Bahadur Bishwakarma said that those interested in providing the service will be given the homestay training and thereafter will be provided with the material necessities. A budget of 1 million rupees has been assigned for the beginning stage of the project.
The Executive Officer of the village municipality, Badrinath Sapkota, said that the municipality lies on the Annapurna trekking route. The homestay facility is being targeted for trekkers walking this path.
