Mindfulness of Pilot saves lives, 4 people sustain injuries in Tara Air Crash in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nov. 28: Four passengers sustained minor injuries in an plane crash in Simikot Airport of Humla District of Nepal after an aircraft of Tara Air met with an accident on Wednesday.

The twin otter 9N-AMB aircraft en route to Surkhet overshot the runway after the puncture in one of the front tyres during the take-off, police have informed.

Basanta Lama, pilot of the aircraft and the co-pilot Ani Gurung, airhostess Priya Shrestha and a passenger sustained injuries during the incident. They all are being treated in District Hospital, Humla.

Photos uploaded in the social networking sites showed the severe damage on the front part of the aircraft after the incident.

A total of 13 police personnel were returning to Surkhet by the aeroplane after carrying out their duty for elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.

"Mindfulness of the pilot saved the aircraft from the major accident. The pilot applied the brakes three times to stop the plane if he wouldn't have done that, the condition could have changed," Kamal KC a witnessed told.
