KATHMANDU, March 15: Nepal's national carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has received international standard quality certification for its ground handling service.

According to NAC, International Air Transport Association (IATA) is providing IATA Safety Auditors for Ground Operation (ISAGO) certificate to the national flag carrier very soon.
Sugat Ratna Kansakar, managing director of NAC, said that the management and the staffers have worked hard for the certification. “We have worked hard over the past two years to receive this certification. The national flag carrier will continue to deliver effective ground handling services in the coming years as well,” he added.

NAC mobilizes around Rs 3 billion from its ground handling services annually. The national flag carrier has already mobilized Rs 1.75 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

“This certification has reaffirmed quality service that the national flag carrier is providing. It will enhance our image in the international market,” Kanskar added.

IATA is expected to send the ISAGO certificate to NAC this week, according to Kansakar.

NAC has earned operating profit of Rs 137 million in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament on Sunday, the then tourism minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi said that NAC mobilized total revenue of Rs 5.42 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, while its operating cost in the review period was Rs 4.43 billion.
