NAC planning to purchase narrow-body aircraft by 2019

KATHMANDU, July 11: Nepal Airlines is planning to import 2 narrow-body A320-200 aircraft by 2019 targeting the Visit Nepal Year 2020. The aircraft will be used for flights to cities in India, China, as well as Myanmar and Sri Lanka, informed Director General Sugat Ratna Kansakar. The aircraft will cost about 12 billion rupees and NAC is in talks with the Employees Provident Fund for loans. The NAC recently received a wide-body Airbus and is to take delivery of another one in a month. "We are taking the arrival of the new aircraft as the start of a strategic transformation," said Kansakar, "We will now conduct flights to different foreign countries and attempt to bring in tourists from richer countries." With the arrival of the new aircraft, the NAC is adding five new destinations including Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
