NAC requests 5 billion from Ministry of Civil Aviation to purchase 6 Twin Otter aircraft

KATHMANDU, Aug 03: Nepal Airlines has requested a sum of Rs. 5 billion from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to purchase 6 Twin Otter aircraft. The proposal has reached the Finance Ministry through the Ministry of Tourism.
General Manager of the NAC, Sugat Ratna Kansakar, said that the corporation intends to increase its paid-up capital to 20 billion, for which 5 billion has been requested in the first phase. NAC currently has a paid-up capital of 360 million rupees. The corporation is looking to increase that amount as it plans to drastically increase its fleet of aircraft to gain more market coverage.
The Aviation Minister Rabindra Adhikari is in favor of this plan, having promised to pave the way for the NAC to purchase 6 Twin Otters in his 100-day-plan.
