KATHMANDU, Jun 28: Nepal Airlines has taken delivery of its first wide-body Airbus A330 at Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday. The aircraft, named "Annapurna" with call sign "9N-ALY" reached TIA around 8:30 am from France under the command of foreign pilots.
The wide-body Airbus will be starting commercial flights to Dubai in August. The NAC had purchased two wide-body Airbus A330 from AAR Corporation to operate flights to new routes in China and Japan. Due to an existing regulation that allows new aircraft to fly in new routes after flying a set period of time in existing routes, the new arrival "Annapurna" will be starting flights to the new routes after 3 months.
The 2nd wide-body A330 named "Dhaulagiri" is set to arrive by the end of July and has already completed necessary test flights.
