NAC targets for 10 new Aircraft by 2020

KATHMANDU, July 12:Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), national flag carrier has targeted to add 10 new aircraft within Visit Nepal Year 2020.

Sugat Ratna Kansakar, Managing Director has strategy to add two new Narrow body within 2019. Also, corporation is planning to add 3 Twin-otter for hilly remote areas and 70 seated airbus for Terai Airport within year 2020. As the existing aircraft Y-12 could not be operated efficiently the company has decided to buy new aircraft.

Currently there is only 3% of interbal flights from NAC.By improving the condition the company has plans to fly in every airport operated by Nepal Civil Avaition Authority. Currently, NAC is flying for one time within a week. The company will be selling its three old aircrafts in auction and the company has already got the permission to buy two airbus and Twin-otter from the board.

According to Rabindra Shrestha, Spokesperson of NAC, the corporation has chosen the consultant to determine the value for Boeing sales besides that the remaining 2 Twin-Otter will be sold within 2 years. The valuation of existing aircraft will be done according to age of aircraft and total flown hours, he added.

The corporation will have altogether 13 aircraft after the arrival of second wide body Airbus A330. Among 13 aircraft, 3 old aircraft will be sold and will be adding 10 new aircraft within 2020 said Shrestha.

12 billion rupees is estimated to be invested for the new airbus. and 4 billion for small airbus. NAC has targets to fly in Korea, Saudi, Japan, Europe, China and India but untill and unless the company buys the third widebody, it cannot operate its flight to America. till then NAC will be flying in 11 destinations from 2 wide body, 2 airbus and Boeing 11.
