NAC to add additional two Chinese Aircraft

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Nepal’s national flag carrier the Nepal Airlines Corporation has started the procedure to acquire two Chinese Aircraft's.
The aircrafts wit 17 seat capacity Y-12 E aircraft will be delivered to Nepal within some months, the NAC has informed. NAC currently have two aircraft of 56 seat capacity MA-60 and two Y-12 E aircrafts currently in operation.
The Y 12 E aircraft which was planned to make flights to rural and remote areas of Nepal are currently in operation in the urban areas. Though Nepal is acquiring the final two aircrafts from China out of the deal made for the 6, the four are already delivered to Nepal.
But Nepal is facing the availability of Chinese Elite and Spare Parts since five years. “The problem has continued since long time but there is compulsion for the Corporation to purchase the aircrafts,” Sugat Ratna Kansakar, Managing Director of NAC said.
Despite the problems the Government of Nepal has made the 70 percent payment for the aircraft and the Avic International Holding Company from which Nepal is purchasing the aircraft.
