KATHMANDU, Sep 01: The recent online ticket booking introduced by Nepal Airlines is gaining footholds day by day dragging more travelers.

In its introductory days tickets worth 2 Thousand dollars use to sell off in a day but now it reaches the average of 6 Thousand dollars a day, Information Officer Sailesh Kansakar said.

He complained that the sale of tickets is still low because the transaction is based on dollars only. The Nepali’s having account in Global banks only is able to access the online booking facility as it does not have the system which will recognize Nepali Rupees or any other currencies than dollar.

“To make ticket booking through internet Credit of Visa Master is mandatory and this facility is not available in all of the banks in Nepal,” Kansakar said.

Amongst the online ticket bookers 80 Percent are Nepali and remaining are foreigners, Kansakar informed. “Nepali national who frequently travels abroad is aware about the online reservations. We are lying backward to spread and inform about the service in international sphere so we are lagging behind in this narrative,” he admitted.
