NAC's second wide-body to start commercial flights in few days

KATHMANDU, Aug 02: The second wide-body Airbus 330 of Nepal Airlines, called "Makalu" will be starting commercial flights within a few days. The Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Rajan Pokharel, said that the second aircraft will not have to conduct a proving flight as it is of the same model as the first widebody, which has already conducted proving flight before starting commercial flights.

The Air Operation Certificate of Makalu is nearly ready, and the NAC has already paid the custom fees for the aircraft. Managing Director of the NAC, Sugat Ratna Kansakar, said that it has paid custom fees of Rs. 110 million and that the aircraft will begin commercial flights within a few days.

The pilot selection process for the second Airbus is also taking place currently. 5 foreign pilots have already arrived at Kathmandu for operating the aircraft, and it will be starting commercial flight as soon as it receives permission from CAAN.
