Nepal and Myanmar agrees to implement Himalayan-2 route

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: During the 56th Director General of Civil Aviation Conference, Chief of  Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Myanmar has agreed to implement Himalayan-2 route.

According to the Civil aviation Authority of Nepal, the official discussion about the project will take place in upcoming days. Himalayan-2 route begins from Mahakali-Kathmandu- Bagdogra, Guwahati, Silchar, Imphal, and reaches to Hong Kong. Nepal has already sent the proposal for the following route in International Civil Aviation Organization. The countries concerned are India, China and Myanmar where India and China are positive towards this proposal.

After getting permission for the route, not only Nepal but the other countries will also get benefits. Currently, the distance of Kathmandu to Kunming is 1,085 nautical miles, which will be reduced to 971 nautical miles after the route is opened. Likewise, the route will help to save around 1,660 tons of fuel per year.
