Nepal Successfully participates in China International Import Expo

KATHMANDU,Nov 14: Nepal successfully participated in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) that lasted from Nov, 5-10, in Shanghai China. 3617 companies from 151 countries and regions participated in the event in which 500 goods, technologies or service products made their debut at the expo and it attracted 3600 foreign buyers from 72 countries and regions. The Expo was inaugurated on 5th Nov. 2018, by the President of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Xi Jinping amongst the heads of State and the high level representation from various countries of the World.
Nepal’s participation in this global event was coordinated by Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC), Nepal. Nepali delegation was led by Minister for Industry, Commerce & Supply Mr. Matrika Prasad Yadav. The Nepali delegation comprised of representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Supply, TEPC, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Investment Board (NIB), Fair Trade Group and Private Sector. Mr. Leelamani Poudel, Ambassador of Nepal to People’s Republic of China, Mr. Chandra Ghimire, Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Supply and Mr. Sharad Rana, Executive Director of TEPC were also present in the Program.
Nepal Tourism Board provided necessary information about Nepal to the visitors and also distributed them brochures, posters and souvenirs. The visitors were curious about Nepal and Nepal handicraft products and Jewelry. On 7th Nov. 2018, the Embassy of Nepal to China organized a meeting with prospective Chinese Investors to give information to them on various aspects and areas of Investment in Nepal. Nepalese Stall was branded in the theme of Visit Nepal 2020 and the interest of Chinese people to Nepal is very encouraging. Participation in such fairs will definitely help in achieving the goal of Visit Nepal 2020.
