Nepali Food Festival started in Beijing on

KATHMANDU, Aug 02: A Nepali Food Festival is taking place in Beijing, China on the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between Nepal and China. The festival was jointly accomplished by the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Minchu Hotel in Beijing, and the Nepali Embassy, along with Nepal Tourism Board. The event, which started on Wednesday, will take place for 15 days.

The festival was inaugurated by diplomatic representatives from India, Pakistan, and Myanmar. The Nepali Ambassador for China, Lila Mani Paudel, said during the opening ceremony that although Nepal and India officially joined in diplomatic relations in August 1, 1955, there has always been a productive and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Councilor at the Nepali Embassy, Harish Chandra Ghimire, said that two Nepali chefs have been appointed for preparing the Nepali food dishes and inform attendees about the items. More than 130 people from Nepal and China attended the opening ceremony. Over the 15 days of the festival, the Fridays will be dedicated to demonstrating the preparation of Nepali food. The festival will also have cultural presentations and have more that 2 dozen food dishes from all parts of Nepal.
