One week advanced cooking training in Gorkha

KATHMANDU, Dec 05:Certificates have been distributed to the participants of the one-week advanced cooking training held in Gorkha.

President of Hotel Association Nepal Gandaki Hari Prasad Sharma Gaire, President of Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal Laxman Subedi and other guests distributed certificates to 40 participants of the training.

The training organized by the Hotel Association Nepal and coordinated by the Gandaki and Gorkha branches of the association was supported by the Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project under the UNDP. Concluding the training, the head of Gorkha municipality Krishna Bahadur Rana Magar said that the training has conveyed a positive message regarding the historical Gorkha district has good potential for tourism. He said that more hotels and tourism infrastructure are yet to be developed in Gorkha district, he informed that the municipality will gradually advance various plans to extend the stay of tourists in the district.

Under this, he also informed that a parade will be started in the district from the 27th of January with the appearance of the army of Prithvi Narayan Shah. He said that such a parade would be conducted every day before evening and it would create an atmosphere that would make tourists forget. In addition to this, he said, the municipality has a plan to build an artificial lake in Chapter and move forward with boating, fishing, operation of hotels and restaurants in the vicinity, mining of sand accumulated in the lake and making use of it. "We want to advance Gorkha district in terms of economy and tourism," he said - tourism is the main potential of Gorkha district.

President of Hotel Association Nepal Gandaki Hari Prasad Sharma Gaire said that skills, efficiency and positive thinking are needed to advance tourism and said that training has helped for this. Stating that Hotel Association Gorkha conducted training even in short preparation, he informed that there is a plan to conduct this type of training in all 11 districts of Gandaki in the coming days. He also assured that the union will take initiative to provide employment to the participants who have completed the training if necessary.

Laxman Subedi, President of Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal, said that the topic of learning will always be insufficient and said that the training completed in the district has started. He also thought that the training would also help in employment and stop the manpower trying to go abroad in the country. He also gave the data that 15,000 manpower is required for Pokhara tourism, and 10,000 labor force is facing problems due to migration due to various reasons including covid.

Manprasad Dhital, president of Hotel Association of Nepal Gorkha and secretary of Gandaki, expressed his belief that the training will help Raithane cook delicious food and attract domestic tourism to the district. He thanked the participants, guests and chief guests of the training. Jeevan Sahi, a member of Hotel Association Nepal Gandaki and President of Tanahun, also spoke at the event.

The chief trainer of the training was Shyam Tamang and another trainer, Laxman Bhandari, the campaign operator from Ali to Thali. On behalf of the participants, Raju Gurung and Sharmila Gurung shared their experiences. Sharmila Wagle Acharya, a participant of the training, conducted the program.
