Lumbini Cable Car operation from June 15th

KATHMANDU, May 22:The 'Lumbini Cable Car,' which will connect Butwal to Basantapur in Palpa, has reached the final stages of construction.
 
The Lumbini cable car, which connects Basantpur, a historical and archaeological location in Tinau Rural Municipality of Butwal and Palpa, has been completed, and technical testing has begun.
 
Gokul Saud, the company's project manager, informed us that preparations are being undertaken with the intention of resuming operations on May 29th. According to him, the Maha Yagya will be held from May 26th to June 1st at the Kamakhya Devi temple in Basantapur.
 
The cable car's base station will be in Butwal's Ward No. 3 Bamghat, and the higher station will be in Basantapur. The cable car will be 2.6 kilometers long.
 
The cable car will include 25 gondolas, with each gondola seating eight passengers. Furthermore, the company said  that a maximum of 600 people may be served every hour, while the cable car can handle 5,000 passengers per day when fully operational.
 
According to the project's manager, Saud, around five billion rupees have been invested. A 150-room five-star hotel with a casino, a Kamakhya Devi temple, restaurants and bars, and a park will be developed in a cable car.

A cable car was developed to promote Basantapur as a tourist destination and attract Indian visitors. He stated that once the cable car is operational, economic activities and tourism growth in the surrounding districts will continue. On February 13th, 2021, then-Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli lay the groundwork for the cable car.
