Machhapuchhre Bank's request for caution when doing mobile banking transactions

KATHMANDU:Machhapuchhre Bank customers have been advised to exercise caution when utilizing mobile banking and other digital services.

The bank has stated that it has investigated the problem and that it has paid close attention to reports in the media about the disappearance of monies from the accounts of customers of the bank's Chandrapur branch in Rautahat.

"After receiving the customer's complaint, the bank investigated and discovered that the entire amount was transferred to various accounts and pocket wallets of other banks using the customer's mobile banking," according to a press release issued on Wednesday. "There was no problem in the bank's system and all of the SMS, activation codes, and OTPs sent by the bank were received and processed." Because it appears to have gone to the customer's mobile phone, it appears that the transaction cannot occur without telling the unauthorized person or without unlawful access to the customer's mobile phone.'

The bank has also asked the police to look into the matter further and take appropriate measures.

Customers' funds in their bank accounts are totally safe, according to the bank, but they should exercise caution when utilizing mobile banking and other digital services.
