Acquisition of 183 ropani land for Jumla Airport expansion

JUMLA, Nov 27:The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has begun the process of acquiring 183.80 ropani of land to expand Jumla Airport's runway and construct a new terminal facility near Khalanga Bazar, Jumla's headquarters.

Santosh Adhikari, Head of the Jumla Airport Office, informed the stakeholders that the Jumla Civil Aviation Office, which is part of the Civil Aviation Authority, had released a public notice about the initial stage of land acquisition.


According to the Jumla Airport Office, the Chief Officer has been appointed as a "Authorized Initial Action Officer" for land acquisition.

According to clause (b) of Section 4-10 of the property Acquisition Act, 2034, about 183.80 ropani property on the north and east sides of the airport has been acquired in order to expand the airport runway and construct a new terminal building.


The decision of the Nepal Government's Cabinet of Ministers to grant permission to the CAAN on May 16, 2023, has been mentioned.

According to the letter dated 6 June, 2023, by Section 5 (2) of the Land Acquisition Act 2034, the head of the Jumla Civil Aviation Office was appointed as the initial officer, as the decision was written through the letter of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation dated 24 May, 2023.
