Cable car to be constructed at Bethanchowk

KATHMANDU, May 04:A cable car will be constructed in Bethanchowk in Kavre. The cable car project, led by Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, will be built on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

A cable car will be constructed up to the Bethanchok Narayan Temple, which is 3,018 meters above sea level. The temple is the highest point in Kavre's Mahabharata mountain range, and the fourteenth overall. Bethanchowk remains the favored location for domestic tourists.

Geographically, this location is at a high elevation and may be accessed after traveling 45 kilometers from the city Kathmandu. You can easily get from Kathmandu to Dhunkharka by bus. Narayansthan temple is about a three-hour trek from Dhunkharka bazaar in Bethanchowk rural municipality. Those who own a vehicle can park it at Deurali Chaur and walk to the hill in around 45 minutes.

It is projected that more than 3.7 billion rupees will be invested in the cable car, which will be launched to promote tourism growth. The cable car will have ten towers and a length of 5,708 meters. The cable car will include nineteen gondolas. The top and bottom of the cable car, which begins at 2,186 meters, will be at 2,879 meters. The cable car will take 9 minutes and 40 seconds.

The cable car is expected to generate 96 crore rupees in revenue each year. According to Gyan Prasad Timilsina, engineer for the village municipality, construction on the project for which the detailed study (DPR) was finished in 2022 is now slated to begin.
