67th Shelri Dugdra (shey) Festival to be held at Dolpo

KATHMANDU, July 21:The final stages of preparations have been completed for the 67th 12-year Shelri Dugdra (shey) Festival, which will take place at Shey Sumdo Gumba in Shey Phoksundo Rural Municipality-3 of Dolpo.

At a press conference to informed the fair in Kathmandu, Tora Samduk Gurung, the chairman of the Shey Phoksundo local municipality, provided information about this.

The festival, which is expected to take place at Shey Sumdo Gumba over six days from Bhadra 16 to 21, will feature religious speeches, cultural events, horse racing, and other activities that showcase Upper Dolpo culture, according to the organizers. In conjunction with the Tilganga Eye Institute, free eye treatment and surgery camps will also be held in honor of the fair, according to Chairman Gurung.

Chairman Gurung stated that Dolpo has a significant tourism potential in Nepal even if it is trailing behind in terms of development and convenience. "Dolpo is a hidden land for adventure tourism," he stated. He remarked that because Dolpo is bilingual, multicultural, and multireligious, visitors will have a varied experience there.

The organizers state that places like Byas Tapobhoomi and Tripurasundari Temple might provide you with a mystical experience.

Over 15,000 people are anticipated to attend the historic Shelri Dugdra (shey) Festival, according to the organizers. It's reported that the last stages of setting up drinking water, makeshift homes, restrooms, and other necessary structures for the fair have been completed.
