NMA Felicitates Member Companies and Mountaineers

KATHMANDU, Jan 01: The Nepal Mountaineering Association has felicitated various member travel and trekking businesses for depositing the highest amount of service charge by issuing the greatest number of mountaineers in the fiscal year 2073/74. The award was given on NMA’s 27th Annual General Meeting by the program’s chief gues, Former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli. The program also awarded various NMA awards to mountaineers who have committed memorable feats of mountaineering in the past year.
The ten resource members which were felicitated for depositing highest amount of service charge were:

- Mountain Monarch Adventure Pvt Ltd
The chief guest also awarded various mountaineers with the yearly mountaineering awards. NMA Advisor & Convener of Award Selection Committee Mr. Shambhu Tamang described the criteria for selecting nominees for its different mountaineering awards. The Dawa Norbu Mountaineering Tourism Journalism Award 2016 was given to Mr. Hari Gopal Pradhan, Mr. Chet Bahadur Adhikari, and Mr. Prakhash Khaling, along with Rs. 10,000 cash prize each. The Kumar Khadka Bikram Mountaineering Award 2017 was given to Mr. Mingma Sherpa along with a medal. The Dr. Harka Gurung Mountaineering Award 2017 was awarded to Mr. Biddhi Narayan Shreshtha with medal and the Dawa Norbu Mountaineering Tourism Journalism Award 2017 was awarded to Mr. Ballabh Mani Dahal along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. The chief guest also handed over the letter of appreciation to Mr. Lhakpa Rangdu Sherpa for the exhibition of photos titled Hilary Step to Mt. Everest, which explored the facts and evidence about whether Hilary Step rock face had truly dissapeared.
Former Prime Minister Oli also launched the book Jones and Bob Gibbos published by Sian Prichard and map regarding Makalu-Lumbasumba & Arun Valley, and trekking map of East-Nepal, covering Kanchanjunga-Makalu-Lhotse-Everest, all published with the support of Nepal Mountaineering Association.
