KATHMANDU, June 21: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has submitted 10 point suggestions to Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Mr Maha Prasad Adhikari for the upcoming monetary policy.

A delegation comprising HAN Officiating President Binayak Shah, General Secretary Sajan Shakya, Siddhartha Hotel Association Chairman CP Shrestha met the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank and presented suggestions to be incorporated in the upcoming Monetary Policy and addressed the demands as hotels require those for their sustainability.

On the occasion, officiating President Mr Shah said that the tourism sector, especially the hotel industry, has been most affected by the pandemic of Covid-19. He urged the governor to address the suggestions of the hoteliers across Nepal. He also requested the governor to establish an effective  mechanism regarding smooth implementation on the part of banks. 

Also, Mr Sajan Shakya,  Secretary General of HAN, said that small and medium hotels should be provided at least 10 percent loan against their investment to maintain or sustain the current situation. He said that the share of tourism in the country's GDP is not mere 3 or 4 percent but the contribution of the tourism industry should be above 10 percent, that the government has always missed out. 

CP Shrestha, president of Siddhartha Hotel Association   raised the issues of his region and sought intervention of NRB as most of his fellow members are in dire need of facilitation from the banks.
