NTB to hold budget amount for next Himalayan Travel Mart

KATHMANDU, July 03: The entire budget for the upcoming Himalayan Travel Mart has been deposited in the Nepal Tourism Board account. The NTB work committee had decided to centralize the budget for the travel mart within itself.

This was a change in a previous proposal within the NTB work committee to hand over the amount to PATA Nepal in order to conduct the travel mart. However, after stern protests from some members of the work committee, it was decided for the budget amount to be held by the NTB itself.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association has been organizing the Himalayan Travel Mart for the past two years in collaboration with the Tourism Ministry and the Tourism Board. Before this year, the budget and profits had been spent by PATA Nepal as per its own discretion.

The decision by the Tourism Board work committee to hold the budget amount comes after a dispute in 2017 regarding budget accountability.
