CHITWAN, Sep 24: As the second wave of corona infection is decreasing, domestic and foreign tourists have started flocking to Sauraha, a major tourist destination in Chitwan.

Tourism and hoteliers are enthusiastic as the number of tourists is increasing. With the onset of major Nepali festivals like Dashain and Tihar, the number of domestic tourists is expected to increase.

Deepak Bhattarai, President of the Sauraha Regional Hotel Association, said that work has been started to clean the hotels that have been closed for a long time and to call the employees who have been sent on leave due to lack of work. According to him, businessmen are working on hotel painting, beautification and sanitation.

President Bhattarai said that the number of tourists in Sauraha has been increasing due to continuous holidays. "Big festivals like Dashain Tihar are coming and domestic tourists are also arriving after the long holidays," said Bhattarai. "We are optimistic when we see tourists."

Last month alone, more than 100 foreign tourists visited Sauraha, according to businessmen. Tourists from USA, Germany, Ukraine, UK and other countries have come to Sauraha for a month.

Suman Ghimire, the former  President of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha and the operator of the Jungle Safari Lodge, said that the number of tourists in Sauraha has started increasing as the Corona pandemic is decreasing. He informed that the businessmen have made preparations in their own way in the hope of attracting tourists. "Corona has taught us a lot. The most important thing is to identify whether the main tourists coming to Sauraha are locals or foreigners," said Ghimire.
