Number of tourists increases in Everest region

KATHMANDU, July 30: Number of internal and foreign tourist visiting Everest region is increasing. According to the Sagarmatha National Parks' department in Namche, 52,405 tourists have visited Everest region  fiscal year 2074-2075. This is the highest number ever recorded.

As compared to year 2073-2074 the number of tourists has increased by 9,213.  The information officer of the National Park Manbahadur Khadka said that last year 45,112 tourists visited the park. Similarly, 26,817 tourists visited the park in 2072-2073. The number of tourist arrivals due to natural beauty of the Everest region is increasing every year. Tourists have visited Everest area for the observation of Himalayas, adventurous games, mountain climbing and observing various wildlife. Tourist Police Office, Lukla, said that tourists also visit Everest  for shooting of films, taking photographs, research and other issues.

Hotel businessmen of Khumbu area are also happy as the number of tourist has increased in the Everest area. Natang Sherpa, president of the Namche Hotel Business Association, said that the tourist environment can be created for the visitors visiting Himalayan region. He suggested that arrangements should be made to organize additional roadways. Most of the hotels in the Everest area have been closed since this year's tourist season has been completed. Now it will again start from coming October.
