Over 400 join NARA 29th Annual  Rafting Festival

KATHMANDU, May 28: Over 400 people including foreigners participated in the 29th Annual Rafting Festival-2017 organised in the Trishuli River by Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA).

The route of this rafting was from Belkhu to Malekhu covering a distance of 25 kilometres.

Inaugurating the event, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Shankar Prasad Adhikari said the government would give priority to the promotion of adventurous tourism in partnership with the private sector.

The objective of the festival was to promote Nepal's rafting, one of the important bases for promotion of domestic tourism and adventurous tourism, in international sector , as stated by NARA President Chandra Prasad  Dahal.

NARA hosts this type of festival in the last Saturday of the month May. Over six thousands rivers in Nepal, rafting is allowed in only 19 rivers.
