Paragliding Training Center under construction in Belaka Municipality, Udaypur

KATHMANDU, Mar 19: Belaka Municipality has established a Paragliding Training Center in Thoksila, Rampur with the aim to promote paragliding in Province 1 and establish Udaypur district into a tourism destination.
Municipality Chief Durga Kumar Thapa said that the municipality has started construction of the training center building with the budget of Rs. 900 thousand. The municipality said that the training school is being started as there is a strong potential to start paragliding in the high altitude regions of Ranitar Mainamaini, along the banks of Saptakoshi River, and to develop tourism in the region.
The municipality said that the paragliding training center will start operation as early as coming May. Instructors for the training center will be brought from Pokhara and the National Sports Council. Different hills including Botangdanda, Champakot, Aptang and Sughachari situated in Mainamaini, Belaka are suitable for paragliding. One can paraglide from these hills all the way to Dumribot, Chatara, and Sombare regions of Saptakoshi. The municipality is starting the paragliding training school as part of a masterplan to promote tourism in the region through paragliding sports.
