Patan Durbar Square to be declared no vehicle zone

KATHMANDU, Mar 15: The Patan Durbar Square situated in Lalitpur is to be transformed into no vehicle zone as it is an essential tourism destination and heritage site according to administrative officer Hari Prasad Dahal.

Traffic Police Inspector Sitaram Hachhethu informed that the rising traffic pressure has created problem to the locals and tourists visiting the heritage site. He added that even the Mayor is concerned about the issue and they are looking towards what they can do to lessen the traffic problem. Patan Durbar Square is being declared a no vehicle zone to allow tourists convenience while visiting the place and to further help in tourism promotion.

The Patan Metropolitan has initiated walking streets in the ‚Äč‚ÄčMangalbazar area to stop the traffic problems but it is not fully decided when and where the no vehicle zone area will be implemented. The city will initiate this
plan by researching the road management techniques.
