Peace rally conducted for peaceful Bisket Jatra

KATHMANDU, Apr 09: A peace rally was conducted to successfully run nine-day long famous Bisket Jatra. The Jatra will be started by pulling the chariot of Bhadrakali and Bhairav from Taumadi to Gahiti. This festival will take place from April 11-April 18.

In the past, while building the chariot of Bhairav in Bisket Jatra, people attacked each other with stones and now the responsibility has been taken under the leadership of District Administration Office, Bhaktapur. The rally started in different parts of Bhaktapur city.
Local residents, government officials, police, political parties, civil society, local representatives of different clubs, students, three other bodies of Scout Security personnel, media activists and representatives of different organizations were participating in the rally.
Chief District Officer Dron Pokhrel, we should celebrate the tradition of historical and cultural importance peacefully and if any person violates the rules and regulations, legal action will be taken.
He said that this year, the festival will be conducted with 34 CC cameras in various locations, and have the presence of more than 300 security personnel in the Jatra. Sales of alcohol and throwing stones will also be prohibited.
