POKHARA, Feb 18: Mayor of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City, Man Bahadur G.C., has expressed dissatisfaction regarding the frequent and unnecessary checking done by the police at the hotels and lodges of Pokhara.

Speaking at the 37th general meeting of the Western Regional Hotel Association Pokhara, G.C. said that the police has been conducting unnecessary checking checking at the hotels of the Lakeside area, and said that such activity can cause negative effects on tourism in the city.

G.C. said that the Baidam Police Office had been checking hotels with various excuses and no legal or official reasons, discouraging the tourists staying in those hotels. He also iterated that in case of legitimate suspicion of illegal activities in the hotel, the police has the duty to maintain peace.

Mayor G.C. also suggested the tourism entrepreneurs to focus more on improving the quality of their services and even the city into a more beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable place, rather than spending all their energies on external promotion.
