Pokhara Tourism Council conducts rice planting festival

POKHARA, Jun 29: The Pokhara Tourism Council has conducted this year's iteration of its yearly rice planting festival at Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolis, Ward No. 24, Paame. The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister of State 4, Prithivi Subba Gurung, with a slogan "Pokhara for all Seasons".
President of the Pokhara Tourism Council, Kedarnath Sharma, said that this years program is estimated to have the attendance of 30,000 domestic tourists and 500 foreign tourists. The event seeks to promote tourism in Pokhara through a traditional celebration which advocates the conservation of arable land and motivates farmers in their work.
The event had various different attractions like oxen race, singing and rice planting competition between the mothers' group, open fish catching competition, running race in the mud, etc. The event also had different cultural presentations as well.
